UOL Upgrades VCampus(TM) to Meet Customer Demand for Web-based Education

MCLEAN, Va., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- UOL Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: UOLP), today announced the June 12th launch date for the latest version of the VCampus distance learning system to meet the growing user-base demand for the company's web-based delivery system. The new VCampus 2.5 has more than 25 new features that increase the speed and simplify the navigation throughout the courseware distribution platform.

"There are a number of features that our users are going to be happy about, because we have been listening to them through ongoing discussions with our clients and as a result of the analysis of extensive usability studies," said Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Robert L. Caudill. "A recent usability study on the web-based learning process, implemented by one of our largest clients, reveals that people who initially pre-tested with very low scores were able to show large gains in their mastery of the subject matter after using the learning approach offered on UOL's VCampus web-based training platform."

In addition to the newly-added features, more than 35 existing features were upgraded to add even more capacity to the open-ended scalability of the VCampus. Most of the improvements focus on reducing the time necessary to perform common student and staff related functions such as keyword course searching and course description browsing. The product now offers a certificate of completion, which can be automatically e-mailed to a student following the successful completion of the course. Also, the descriptive activity icons were updated on more than eighty-percent of the existing screens to smooth the navigation between functions.

John Tiepen, Director of Training for Graybar Electric, a national distributor of electrical products, coordinated his company's participation in the pre-release, beta testing process. "We have been using UOL's VCampus throughout the Graybar organization for nearly two years," said Mr. Tiepen. "The VCampus 2.5 release provides us with enhanced capabilities and a more useful and intuitive student interface -- all part of a series of new features that were implemented because of the requests of Graybar and other participating testers. We value the responsiveness that UOL has shown in continually providing us with the features we need to meet our corporate training objectives."
