BackWeb Sales Accelerator Software Re-branded and Integrated Into
Baan Company's New Front Office Application

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- BackWeb(R) Technologies (Nasdaq: BWEB), a leading provider of Priority Internet communication infrastructure and applications software for the extended enterprise, today announced a product partnership with Baan Company N.V. (Amsterdam: BAAN; Nasdaq: BAANF), a global provider of business software and a leading provider of Front Office applications. As part of the agreement, Baan Company has re-branded and integrated BackWeb's Priority Internet communication infrastructure and the BackWeb Sales Accelerator application into its customer management product line. The Baan Company product, named BaanKnowledgeManager(TM), offers a marketing encyclopedia application with real-time desktop information retrieval and delivery, and is a robust addition to the BaanFrontOffice application suite.

"One of the biggest challenges facing sales professionals today is how to keep up-to-date on competitive threats and responses, as well as company, customer and prospect activity and plans," said Mark Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Baan Company. "With BackWeb's Priority Internet communication infrastructure and the BaanKnowledgeManager application, our customers will be able to respond and adapt to critical changes in the marketplace, and increase their potential to enhance revenues as a result of priority delivery of critical, time-sensitive information to their desktops."

BackWeb's Priority Internet communication infrastructure is a powerful communication system based on a set of flexible, scalable technologies that enable an organization to capture information from virtually any data source, and efficiently and reliably deliver it throughout the extended enterprise. In addition, BaanKnowledgeManager utilizes three BackWeb Sales Accelerator modules. The Market Intelligence Manager module automatically gathers information about competitors, customers and the marketplace from any Internet or intranet location. The Automated Marketing Encyclopedia module automatically delivers large documents to multiple users, reliably, securely and without impacting network performance. Sales professionals and partners are automatically updated with the latest brochures, pricing, presentations and competitive information. The Strategic Publishing Manager module enables companies to proactively communicate key messages without depending on the sales force and partners to locate and open the messages. Attention management capabilities include sophisticated Flashes, which contain any type of file or media and are automatically delivered to an end user's desktop regardless of the application in use.

"Today's busy sales executive no longer has the time to search for critical information," said Eli Barkat, CEO of BackWeb Technologies. "With BackWeb and the BaanKnowledgeManager, they have a one-stop shop for up-to-the-minute information on competitors, products and accounts. They're able to sell more competitively because the right sales tools are proactively delivered to them."
