bankers lady...."mikey" as a ceo
you could not be more correct.....a ceo doesn't "run" a company, he "leads" a company....the larger you become, the more visible a ceo must be......."direct from dell" imho wasn't "cutting edge" business philosophy as the current harvard experts think...youth is beginning to show, "mikey" just copying a model that preceeded him by twenty years...executed flawlessly, but if you depend on strategic alliances for your health and well being, you put yourself in a subordinate position...many on the thread are very "hawkish", wanting dell to defeat hwp and ibm...but yet meredith talks of high profit peripherals, from hwp or the ibm parts deal....can you defeat one but yet still need them for your existence? look at the state of the japanese industrial machine which "mikey" copied...when a small piece tumbles, the balance tremendously upset..."mikey" has grown in the best of times, but what are the future plans for any potential "worst" of times?...not trying to "down play" a tremendous achievement, but that is in the past, looking at it with a wealth of business acumen and querying the future...the model that "mikey" lives by is driven by 3-5 year forward plans, not dreams, firm plans...why not share these? if you are a true "gorilla", as an ibm, msft, intc..you don't have to sneak around in the dark to grab a banana...you are confident in your plans, and know the other apes can't take the banana away from you....isn't this what intc press release yesterday was about...a product a few years out?...guess they are not so worried about amd knowledge of what they are planning!!! |
