*****somewhat ot***** El: As an exercise, plot graphs of LSI and CPQ over next year -- through rate hikes and biz slowdowns, market pops and slides -- and I suspect that -- as a HOLD -- LSI will prove the substantially better investment. If you don't like the idea of putting eggs in one basket (and who could blame you after the nightmare of Compaq), why not balance a bit with LSI, CYMI, PRIA, ASYT, TER, AMAT, and/or whatever?? Shoot the fish in the barrel. This transition to 12 inches has been put off for two years. Japan and Korea now show signs of real recovery. Motorola and Siemens are already building 12 inch proto plant in Europe. All chipmakers are going to have to follow if they want to stay in the game. Transition to .18-.13 microns is now upon us as well. While Compaq (maybe) gets its house in order and -- perhaps -- its share price rises, why not put some money into the semi-equipment makers who are going to re-supply THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY. THis is what the reality is going to be. Take advantage of it!!!!!! M2 |
