The reason I mentioned System Commander is that I used it a few years ago when I was not sure if I wanted to transition from Win3.1 to Win95.(I now have 98 and I still like 3.1).

Anyway, the application partitioned the C drive, as you mentioned and I put Win95 into the second partition. When it booted, you were given a menu of O/S installed, (apparently many more can be installed). The trick was that when you selected one from the menu, the application "hid" the other partition, so the computer did not think it existed, as each MS O/S likes to think it is your only friend. It created an MBR for each partition and activated it from the System Commander menu.

I'm not hyping the program and this is probably more than you wanted to know, (as well as stretching the limits of my knowledge!). I was just curious as to whether a third party application was still needed. It sounds as if Win98 has the function incorporated in the O/S. I do agree that you will have issues of 32 bit Win98 programs not running in the 16 bit NT environment.

This thread is sometimes better than Windows magazine, which I do not have the patience to read.
