nfoInterActive Partner Announces First European Customer
BEDFORD, NS, June 10 /CNW/ - InfoInterActive Inc. (MSE: IIA), the leading provider of Internet- based call management solutions, announced today that its strategic business partner in Europe - The Witchity Corporation - has secured Redstone Telecom plc as its first major customer and reseller of Internet Call Manager service. Redstone is a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure and services throughout the United Kingdom. Consistent with its business strategy, Witchity is forming a joint venture company with Redstone Networks Services Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Redstone Telecom plc, to offer Internet Call Manager (''ICM''). Service will be made available immediately to Redstone's 250,000 direct customers and through multiple Internet Service Providers. Deployment has already begun, and the service will be fully available by August. Redstone's substantial telecommunications infrastructure places 92% of UK households - over 23 million - within a local call of the Internet Call Manager service. ''The combination of unprecedented growth in the European Internet market and the recent deregulation of telecommunications networks creates a particularly strong demand for Internet Call Manager's compelling range of features,'' said Mr. Neil Haverty, President and COO of Witchity. ''We anticipate substantial acceptance and activation of ICM by the fast-growing Internet subscriber base in the UK, already in excess of 4 million individual dial-up subscribers and projected to grow to beyond 9 million by 2002. We expect similar acceptance across Europe where Internet subscriber estimates are now over 30 million.'' Parallel partnership developments in a range of other major European countries with equally well-placed telecommunications network operators will ensure that ICM service becomes rapidly available. ''This is the first step toward making Internet Call Manager available throughout Europe,'' said Bill McMullin, President & CEO of InfoInterActive Inc. ''This is a high-growth area for both Internet and Internet-related services such as Internet Call Manager, and we are delighted that our partner has moved so quickly.'' Internet Call Manager allows customers to manage all their telephone calls while on the Internet, even when this connection is over a single telephone line. Calls can be identified, acknowledged, transferred, answered using Voice Over IP (VOIP), answered using the public telephone network, or sent to a messaging service. Now being rolled out across North America and Europe, this application is leading the IP telephony space in terms of immediate need and customer interest with major carriers planning full-scale service deployments.
