SCSI hookups and the Yamaha 4416s

Hey Spots, my toy did indeed arrive today, complete with a rack of 4x CDRW media! Manufactured May 1999, all ready to go. :)

Now I'm wondering about whether I need concern myself with SCSI performance as follows. I have 4 SCSI devices: HP 4c scanner (SCSI 1), internal zip (don't believe it's fast SCSI, but not sure), Plextor 14/32x (ultra-fast), and the yamaha (fast.) I also have two boards-a symbios NCR 810 fast controller that has bios built into my Asus P2B-F, and a Mylex Flashpoint ultra narrow. I could use either board, but have been leaning towards the NCR due to the Asus bios.

My main concern is wether having these slow devices on the board might deteriorate performance sufficiently to affect CD burns. I doubt this will be a problem, but better safe...

I'm also interested in any opinions regarding one board vs. the other or the overall setup. Could use both boards in pinch probably, but I'd hate to give up a precious SCSI slot...

Thanks for any feedback,

Dave
