Reginald - RE: "As example, the latest Micro Center catalog features the latest Intel processors in PCs made by Compaq, Hewlett Packard and eMachines, but there is no K6-III PC to be found! I find this startling in view of the fact that the K6-III has been in production since middle February - right?"

Yeah, I have noticed the same scary thing.

As far as I know, the only way to get the K6-III from an OEM is through one of those Built to Order stands at Best Buy and possibly Circuit City. Actually, I think Compaq is the only OEM to offer it.

Now, a 500MHz K6-III is supposed to come out next week, but what good will it do if OEMs aren't using the K6-III? Maybe they were afraid it wouldn't sell because it has been only 400 and 450MHz, or the same MHz as the K6-2. I have no idea, but I would really like to know.

BTW, you can purchase a Compaq PC over the net w/a K6-III in it today, but I don't really care about that, anymore. I won't be satisfied now until I see it on store shelves.
