Baldy, we are in agreement on the type of contest, but not the rules.

You are assuming that Fred is not an honorable man. If that's the case, walk away and no bet.

He's saying he'll be profitable by a certain date. If that entails him laying out another 1/4 million or so to reduce his average just to win a lousy 5Gs, that's his perogitive.

This costs our young Sam nothing but a little sweat between now and the termination date. And, what's 5Gs to Sam, he's allegedly spent half that much on phone calls.
