I think the guys working on this project are committed to getting this thing in the air by Oshkosh. It seems like just a month ago the thing was just a skeleton. Now it seems almost certain that they will make it. I think the days of under $1 are just about over.

The news on the web site shows a speed of between 35 and 150 miles per hour. This should blow away helicopters, but small planes may still be more comfortable and faster on longer trips. I have no doubt that we will see a Hawk 6 with an even bigger (and faster) engine. When that one flys, the small aircraft market will slowly die. Why would you want something that costs more, is harder to fly, more costly to operate, and can only land at airports? Heck, you could land your Hawk on your tennis court!
