Bad English is to be blamed on TV/Radio, rather than schooling.

Only Barbara Walters appears to be able to say 'Twenty' (as opposed to twenni) and she has a speech defect.

Another of my major peeves is the use of the word 'anticipate' when
'expect' is more appropriate.

Why do newscasters say 'ditayls' when it should be pronounce with a long e (deetails)?

UK's BBC has a school for announcers. You are not allowed to broadcast
until you graduate. They also have a department to research correct
pronuncitions of given and place names.

e.g The ex Israeli prime ministers given name is BenYaheem - not Benjamin (even though it's spelt that way.)
