USA Video Interactive Signs Co-Location Agreement with UUNET

MYSTIC, Conn., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- USA Video Interactive
(Nasdaq: USVO; Amex: US) (http://www.usvo.com) has signed an agreement to
co-locate its servers in the UUNET data center in Vienna, Virginia. UUNET
(http://www.uu.net) is an MCI WorldCom Company (Nasdaq: WCOM). With this
agreement, users will be able to access streaming and other video via the
Internet with USA Video Interactive's state-of-the-art technology, including
its Wavelet compression and decompression technology. USA Video Interactive
will use this video portal to provide users with the highest quality
interactive TV; Internet "TV" commercials developed and produced for clients
by the company's video partner, Motion, Inc.; movies; sporting events; and
other digitized Video-on-Demand(TM) content.
When pilot programs involving three of the world's leading educational
libraries are complete, digitized educational content can be placed on the USA
Video Interactive servers and made available via the UUNET network on a
licensed, password-protected basis to schools, colleges and educational
institutions worldwide. The three video libraries -- AGC/United Learning
Educational Media, The Phoenix Learning Group, and Lucerne Media -- are
providing their most popular content for installation on a USA Video
Interactive server at LEARN in Connecticut, which supplies technology and
innovation to six Regional Education Service Centers, 120 schools and more
than 49,000 students.
This agreement follows an earlier agreement between UUNET and USA Video
Interactive to collaborate in providing an overall package of Internet
services as part of USA Video Interactive's "turnkey" system. As part of this
agreement, USA Video Interactive participates in UUNET's Client Referral
program for clients whose Video-on-Demand(TM) requirements include Internet
access and transmission utilizing Direct Subscriber Line (DSL) technology and
various other broadband services.
USA Video Interactive is an international designer and supplier of
high-tech Video-on-Demand(TM) systems and services. The USA Video Interactive
technology allows users to view streaming video or to access digitized video
libraries, including movies, sports, other entertainment, educational
resources, corporate training seminars and other archives. The USA Video
Interactive technology gives users full-motion video; the unique flexibility
of standard, VCR-like controls of play, fast forward, reverse and pause; and
the convenience of a standard internet-browser format for access. USA Video
Interactive can utilize MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compression techniques but
prefers its Wavelet technology. The USA Video Interactive Wavelet technology
allows direct streaming and download & play options; provides video images
significantly faster and at a higher degree of resolution than previously
available methods; significantly overcomes bandwidth restrictions; and
eliminates the blockiness and slowness of current technologies, all at a lower
cost. It allows extremely high compression ratios while retaining broadcast
quality, an essential feature of the USA Video Interactive technology.
