Off topic ... Military stuff

The purpose of the military is to destroy property and kill people. In an war, one hopes to inflict more damage than one sustains, that determines who 'wins' and who doesn't.

An observation: Wars only begin when one side thinks they can win. Wars continue until one side becomes convinced they can't win. Once losing becomes certain, the war ends.

This simple analysis fails in most cases because the military is being used for purposes it is not well prepared to carry out: policing; humanitarian endeavours; civil infastructure, both physical and organizational; and altering the political landscape.
