A proven technology known as "intermediate radius arc" reentry horizontal drilling has reportedly enabled up to five times the oil
to be extracted from old wells at a fraction of the cost and risk
of drilling new vertical wells.

It would appear to me that Em Sounder technology would be ideally suited for this type of exploration due to their high resolution capability. They conceivably could locate payzones next to existing wells and economize the whole process, reducing risk even more.
