"Optical will never compete seriously with magnetic data storage."

-And the automobile will never replace the horse and buggy. I suggest you read George Gilder. Advances in data storage technology are coming in leaps and the Zip will follow Iomega's last hit, the Berboulli box into obsolesence. The erasable compact disc, the CD-E , is scheduled to be out early next year and be able to hold more than 650 megabytes of data. Advances in blue laser technology are said to have made them affordable.

Iomega recognizes that time is not on its side. In a prospectus for a debt offering filed in late February with the S.E.C., Iomega notes that sales of the Zip drive "may be attributable in large part to the novelty of the product and the initial publicity surrounding the introduction of the Zip, and may not be indicative of the long-term demand for the product."

Study you say? Haven't read all 2000+ messages here but I haven't
read any noting that Iomega has NO PATENT PROTECTION for the disk drives or the disks, although it has applied for some. That leaves the company wide open to potential competition in the production of its own product!

Further, it appears the SEC is investigating whether company officials may have been engaged in "pumping" the stock in that "FOOLISH" forum under pseudo screen names.

Finally, if "IOMG is the Seagate of Removable Data Storage Technology", then it can be agreed that it should reasonably be trading at a fraction of its current price. The massive shorting and FOOLISH hyping have undoubtedly distorted the market.

-I have no position in this stock, I am not a gambler.
