<<<SAN JOSE, CA, St. Patrick's Day, March 17,1997 -- Amati Communications Corporation. . .>>>

Bob, Jeff, John, Bill, and all the rest ---

Thanks for your kind words. And would you look at that press release! No wonder I'm smiling. "San Jose, CA., *St. Patrick's Day*. . ." You have to love a company with a sense of humor.

So here we are "we few. . . we faithful few. . . " struggling to understand an emerging technology and an emerging company and once in awhile we have to swat off a few gnats. It's part of the price for being on the edge. But, hey, guys like Amadeo and the rest will complain if they buy Intel and it drops. They're probably whiners in their offline lives, too. Until they accept responsibility---no matter what happens---they'll be stuck. Heck, if I complained for all the stock tips I've lost money on, I wouldn't have a friend left in the world. You win some; you lose some.

But why am I feeling so positive? I can't figure it out. Must be we've hit bottom and it's all up from here. (I hope. :))

Thanks again for everything!

Cheers!

Pat
