I have about a dozen companies I am holding with "free shares" but they are all companies worth believing in. "Free shares" make it very easy to ride out volatility like the current market conditions. You can't sell at the wrong time if you have decided not to sell at all.

With crap like CCSI, however, it is just a recipe for losing money.

Shorts can work the same way. No way would I cover a single share of ICCSA at a loss. I rode it up to 17 and back down to 8 and change now. Won't cover until I see something under 5. There's a company the SI shorting community could have decimated if they hadn't run for cover every time someone brought it up.
