Microsoft has reportedly joined the increasing-popular business
model of offering free Internet access service in the United
Kingdom. The move follows the Microsoft Network's loss of 150,000
subscribers in Great Britain this year, according to Bloomberg
news. "Going free is not an option anymore, it's the cost of being
a player," commented Forrester Research analyst Joe Sawyer. "The
access model is getting commoditized," he told the news service.
AOL Europe said it might also consider offering free Internet
access in the UK, Bloomberg added.
