Dave, read your post to Scot Halpern. I live in Texas, and have a son
in L.A. who is very high on AVID's equipment. He studied sound and
lighting in college, has a fairly impressive background so far as work
as a techie is concerned, but has never been able to get a union card.
Has been studying film editing, hoping to leapfrog over the union, and
has been fortunate enough to find instruction from a good teacher. I
would appreciate your opinion as to the chance of his success, in view
the market, the economy, and the creative talent required. In short,
how hard is it to find people who can milk the potential from this
