ig,

As far as I know, I am using simple MAs, the ones that are available on Realtick. From what I have seen so far, what is more important is what time frame you watch and which parameters you use. I am using 5/15/30 periods on a 1 min chart of an individual stock. The 5/15 crosses are early and volatile, the 15/30 crosses are slow and more solid. As Alan points out, the present choppiness of the market makes the crosses pretty dicey to play. I need to put up a 5 min chart to smooth out the action and maybe put MAs on a DOW chart to track the market a bit better. My hope is that by the time I master the crosses we'll get back to some trending market action and I'll be ready to do more than scalp.

Rick
