I can think of one group of sects that has in its scripture ; 'And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let him have dominion ...... So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he him.' "The ultimate egoism of the human race is trying to judge God by human standards." Agreed ... but the curiosity is not judgment, and just doesn't go away. There's a basic human desire to know more, and to speculate and hypothesise beyond the boundaries of knowledge ...... also, the comfort of a strong belief structure by which one can explain his universe is quite seductive .... non-reporting bulletin board 'stock' threads demonstrate this ... i can see why for many 'if God didn't exist it would be necessary to invent him'.
