Exactly! But Chris, I believe I experience awe at life no less than do you-- and that I also have 'overcome' my need, if not exactly my hunger, for "human understanding" to a degree that does not require I invent a sentient, intentional, worshipable entity in an attempt, which will remain ever unsuccessful, (so vast and glorious are the wonders of life,) to assuage it.
Two of the wonders of human life are reason and conscience:
Never, Chris, even if the existence of an omnipotent God were proved on Monday, would I worship One who might prevent , but nonetheless permits, children to burn to death or beautiful babies like my little girl to be born with withered brains to make a point. Some point about... how bad some other people are? Something like that.
That's not about God, that statement. It's about me; a human being. |
