Orignal 3DNow! vs. SSE. The truth is, because Intel is a monopoly they could get Microsoft to modify Windows 98 to handle the extra registers. AMD, with 10% market share (then) could not do this. In fact, if Intel had done SSE the same way AMD did, which only requires a DLL and no OS modification for implementation, they may have been sued for patent infringement.

BTW, Paul, how come SSE doesn't work in Windows 95.
