BRE-X nearly lost Busang

Thanks to Thomas and lama for their replies. Lama, I don't have to go very far back in time to find an example for you. Bre-X came very close to losing the majority of their Busang deposit, as a direct result of a corrupt government. The only reason they turned it around was because they learned quickly how to counter-bribe the government. Even so, they were still robbed from what was legally theirs.

Be careful about putting the blinders on to the politcal reality of these countries. We're not dealing with countries who abide by North American law. If there is civil unrest, and there is a subsequent "change" of government, there is no guarantee that the new authorities would keep current treaties or mining laws. My point is that there does seem to be something significant happening in Kazakstan that has had a SIGNIFICANT impact on share prices. However, it seems very difficult to find any recent news on what is happening. Has anyone found any sites that have current info on the situation? Analyzing the political climate is as much a part of DD as examing the company's balance sheet.

Good luck.
