Someone will come along and offer free web auctions before long . . . and that will put pressure on eBay and Amazon to lower their charges. The auctions will be nice for generating a lot of business and a nice, small amount of profit that doesn't justify eBay's currently inflated price. eBay has the advantage of early entry but their site has never been very good technically or from a user perspective, IMO. But like Furbies and other passing fads, it is hot now. eBay should be a good play again next fall. Until then, it is open for justified criticism. both of their business plan and high stock valuation and the lousy execution of their site.
