I will run a check on market caps in the 50% portfolio and get back to you. I looked at my short trades today and found that without those, the portfolio would be up about 45% instead of 52% so those don't play a big role. I believe funds can use options but I don't know the details (at least I know one offshore fund manager who uses them). I will have to look at my options performance for the year. At most, they contributed another 5% to my over all profits. At the moment I am running the 50% portfolio more or less like a fund. Only two positions over 5% and a spread of large and small caps. Time to crunch some more numbers and grab some dinner (pizza in the oven - yummy!).
