You're tough to keep up to.

Suppose you build a network topology, so that on the desktop is just what a human needs to look at and touch - a monitor, keyboard, and mouse - and nothing more. Suppose you build a server that runs all the applications you want, and just pumps the "human interactions" - mostly the video - up and down the network. The hardware on the desktop need never change, but the server needs to be a real fire-breathing beast.

Especially the part that does the "video card" work. Lots of user screens to refresh, lots of "all at the same time" rendering to do, lots of memory to read and write from ...

You'd need one hell of a "video card", and a lot of memory bandwidth.

Sounds like ... nah, it's just a rumor ...
