But doesn't info overload force us to filter like that anyway? How many of us read a paper, mag, etc. cover to cover? The net just expands the amount of info we retrieve that meets our filtering requirements.

< What I think will happen is that people will be able to "live in their own world", even
while functioning in the wider world. It is like the person who takes a walk with their
walkman head phones firmly on the ears. They get the exercise, but hear nothing of the
sounds of the neighborhood. Of course the next step is to use the exercise bike
surrounded by four walls, and eliminate any sights too. >
