DD,

Geezus... look at the precipitous drop after the US left the gold standard in the early '70s and then the SHARP SPIKE UP from 1978-9.

Now I don't know how you define what exactly a "sharp spike" upward equates to, but most people would quantify that has a gap-up in CB buying as well as a decrease in selling of gold during that period.

As for gold leased out, I really don't know those figures and I imagine they are closely held.

But dagnabbit DoubleD, you have to admit that inflationary periods prevented CBs from increasing their sales of gold and certainly restricted their selling of already held reserves.

So you can dance around and hide behind definitions all you want, but what I stated was essentially correct. CBs held and actually purchased gold during the early to late '80s when energy prices were placing inflationary pressures on the global economy.

I know you don't agree with my opinion and that's your right. But give me a little credit here. Or more appropriately put, give the "devil his due".... (since all the goldbugs seem to think I'm the anti-christ)....<VBG>

Regards,

Ron
