Ireland is not really that dank, JP. Global warming has affected the weather, which was breaking forty year heat records when we were there in April. In fact, it was hotter there those two weeks than it was in Spain! I guess I will have to spend part of a winter there to see if it really gets depressing, but really southern Ireland is a temperate climate with tropical vegetation and weather that huddles in the sixties and seventies for much of the year. I did not know what a "soft" day meant until I got there, but basically the typical rain blows across the entire island in the course of a day, with gentle showers for awhile and then sunshine, all shiny clean from the rain.

The book sounds really quite interesting, particularly because of the local interest. My one concern would be general gory details. Do you remember if there are any really scary or rank descriptions that would frighten a child who is almost sixteen?

I did not know that you are not in Alabama, but assume from your post that you are okay. It is really nice to see you posting over here!
