taxman..re "future direction" other then being the best "white box assembler/marketer" in the history of mankind, what other "out of the box"(whatever that means)direction has been confirmed by dell management? i know the direction of msft,intc,t,hwp,ibm....why because the ceo's have made it clear of what they see the future direction of technology and their part in it...as andrew grove recently stated, investment in new direction, as armstrong/t have done will mold the future direction... remember dell has accomplished everything in what was a new field (pc's) in the best of economic times...a tremendous accomplishment, but is there going to be an encore from the white box...i don't mind owning as i do a company with tremendous earning potentials in a niche market...but i hear so much from many on the thread as dell ability to steamroll over any competitor in any field it chooses...remember their model requires strategic alliances, which places them in an inherently subordinate position...their health depends on the health of their down stream vendors....and ibm is one....so why tout hurting a company that you need...isn't why they signed a supply and r&d alliance with big blue?...companies can peacefully co exist...just get annoyed that many have this "last man standing" attitude...it is not possible with the dell model...just ask "mikey"
