There's some unfinished business here.

First, with the GLBX and USWest merger, GLBX was going to have to give up its long distance customers in USWest's service area. I don't know what portion of Qwest subscriber's are in U.S. West's service area, but I'm guessing that either USWest will have to win regulatory approval to offer LD, or Qwest will have to give up its customers. With the success of the RBOCs getting into ld, I'd guess that Qwest would lose some customers.

Second, what's up with Bell South? Is this just an interum step to combining BS in with the resultant company?

I live in the Denver area and can't say that I'm too happy with USWest. I was not surprized that they can't get my number in the phone book. I was going to buy some USWest after the GLBX deal was announced, as I thought it was just at temporary set back. I guess that I should have. I've been waiting on the sidelines contemplating getting into Qwest. Maybe after the smoke clears, I'll be in (in the high 20s).
