Plus that loud sucking sound (aka the standalone MPU biz) which accompanies each earnings release will soon go away - a very good thing. You can think of the old valuation as being: something for the analog biz MINUS something else for the standalone MPU biz. This 2nd term is what gave the shareholders a share price of $10 and a long-running case of diarrhea. The new valuation gets rid of the obscenely large 2nd term - it is up to the investors and pundits to figure just how large this 2nd term is and incidentally, taking into a/c the recovery in the semi biz, how large the first term should NOW be.
