Turn the tables around and think of pointed questions one might ask of USRX (work at it if you have to); what likelihood is there of getting any sort of post much less a reply to those questions?
We have, ad nauseum, and the liklihood of an official answer in this forum is slim to none, at least based on past experience. However, Kevin Smith's posting of "official" comments opened the door to pointed questions, though he is certainly under no obligation to respond. I think you will agree that it's a rarety to see a company spokesperson to appear on a SI thread, and I for one wasn't going to pass on the opportunity to ask direct and pertinent questions. It almost was an invitation for questions.
My prior comments cited by the Ascend spokesperson have been widely asked, both in the investment and technical communities, and were not really addressed or answered in his post.
For the benefit of those who don't follow the Ascend thread, here is my original post in response to Gary Goetz, and Kevin's response to that post. Note that I never said a thing about Motorola's problems with the Rockwell chipsts. (BTW, I don't actively follow the Ascend thread, but was respnding to a post directed to me.)

The problem that we have here is that the Consortiums' actions belie their words. They purport to have good technology ready to deploy, yet Ascend based ISPs downplay the viability of 56k, indicate that they won't deploy until a standard is reached, advise customers not to buy 56k modems, while USR archrival Hayes adopts x2 in two of it's modem lines. Mory Ejabat has even publically questioned the viability of 56k, seemingly in direct conflict to his statement of "leadership" in the field.
Question: Has anyone yet to see a public demonstration of a Rockwell 56k connection going through a generic PSTN connection? |
