Howdy X-JOE-O,
I like your new screename, I liked your old one, hey Joe, Yer Alrite!
I'd comment about how stocks are doing but only watching 'em through hearsay on here....
I'm Closing My Eyes Today, Holding Onto The Bar....
Haven't glanced at my portfolio yet, don't plan to until I hear a better report of how things are doing from Techride and from Mick. Ho hum, I'm Mellow, OK to wait.
In the meantime, Live @ Techstock '99....
Mick and the Boys are still over in Europe, but broadcast a song to Techstock '99 for the Open dedicated to Susan: It wasn't the requested "Time Is On My Side" but 'twas,

"You CAN'T Always GIT What You WANT, You CAN'T Always GET What You WANT, You CAN'T Always GIT What You WANT, But If You Try SOME TIME, You Might Find - YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED!!! OH YEAH, YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED!!!

Bad News Or Good News, Whaddyathink?..... Hear tell that a chicken salad sandwich and a cup of coffee cost $17 in some little outdoor unfancy cafe in France or wherever after the conversion to Eurodollars from American greenbacks. Unless The Boys were cheated, does that jibe with what we're hearing about eurodollar currency balances going down on the skids? Hmmm?
Friends of mine sent their daughter to Japan on a school trip last year for a week on a student group rate of less than $1500. They didn't stay in homes either; they stayed in hotels, ate in restaurants, drove around on daytours too.
Practical-thinking I find myself remembering Japanese students I knew when I was in college in the '70's when the scare was that Mighty Japan was going to take us over economically, remember? At that time I was paying $125 a month utilities included for my own lovely little place with a loft, skylight, and garden; living frugally but real nice on under $300 a month including books, art supplies, keeping up a car, recreationals,
and fresh food (yep, my salad days)....when some Japanese students I knew gave catered banquet parties for hordes of hungry art students, lived in penthouse apartments by The Wharf; said their parents were apologizing for not being able to send them more than A Grand a month to live on and the kids felt guilty but, you know, didn't tell The Rents they could get away nicely with less.....Kids'll be kids.
Oh Yeah
"You Can't Always Get Whatchew Wont"..."You Caint Owaze Git Whachew Want"... But if you try Some Time, You Might Find...
Oh, yeah.
909s,
Joanie
