jocko. the full Dr. Bean version 2.0 at JavaOne? I think it will be 2.0... to a degree. As was stated in the May 19,1999 Sideware AIF at sedar.com: “...The Company has also commenced design work for Dr. Bean, version 2.0. The Company expects that version 2.0 will be a substantial upgrade of version 1.0, and will incorporate the following additional features: (a) Version 2.0 is expected to have "enterprise wide" capability, incorporating scalable architecture, permitting a virtually unlimited number of connections; and (b) Version 2.0 will incorporate call centre integration, supporting communication through the internet and conventional telephone services simultaneously. The design of version 2.0 is at a preliminary stage, with the result that the Company is not able to provide a reliable completion schedule, or a reliable estimate of the cost or manpower requirements. ...” On May 19th Sideware could not even provide a development schedule! So what they must have at JavaOne is a demo version with specific functionality completed. It would not be the full software “tool” yet. More like a mockup of the functionality provided by Dr. Bean 2.0. I have used this tactic before at software shows. It is a common approach taken by cutting edge software corporations. In the end, it pays to let your customers know that they have many new features and facets that will be available in later software releases. Kris
