Attention Business Editors:

Repap Enterprises Inc. postpones annual and special shareholders meeting

NEW BRUNSWICK, June 14 /CNW/ - Repap Enterprises Inc. (''Repap'')
announced that it has elected to postpone its annual and special meeting of
shareholders presently scheduled for June 18, 1999. The reason for the
postponement is that it has discovered that due to certain clerical errors by
third parties involved in proxy distribution process, proxies were not mailed
to a number of Repap shareholders in accordance with the statutory and
regulatory notice provisions resulting in such shareholders receiving
inadequate notice of the meeting.
Repap is in discussions with various shareholders who have expressed
concern regarding the items of special business proposed at the shareholders
meeting relating to the approval of certain compensation arrangements for Mr.
Steven Berg and the continuance of Repap under the laws of the Province of New
Brunswick. Pending the completion of these discussions, it is Repap's present
intention not to proceed with any items of business at the rescheduled meeting
other than the election of directors and the reappointment of its auditors.
Repap proposes to advise its shareholders shortly of the rescheduled
record and meeting date.
