June 14, 1999 U.S. pork industry showcased at World Pork Expo New technologies and opportunities, including the concept of a national pork producer-owned cooperative packing plant, were showcased at the Iowa State Fairgrounds during the 12th annual World Pork Expo. The annual pork-specific show drew approximately 40,000 producers and consumers to Des Moines on June 10-12. "The pork producer interest and continued support from allied industry in our pork-specific trade show helped demonstrate there continues to be hope and optimism for the U.S. pork industry," said World Pork Expo manager Ernie Barnes. The event is sponsored by the National Pork Producers Council with checkoff-funding from the National Pork Board. etc...
