I don't believe this 'I am smarter than you'. After all,
Alpha has been there for a long period of time and if
it is really that much better, Intel has enough time to
'copy' or adapt those critical design.

You will see many of the K7 techniques used in future Intel CPU's. The move to a 3-cycle L1 was too difficult psychologically for the majority of CPU architects. IBM, Intel, and Cyrix have been unable to do this. You have to realize that CPU architects are just people, and are prone to hold on to foolish prejudices- to their own detriment.
