Jennifer - Thanks for the USB Bloomberg link! The article about USB was particularly interesting to me because they are pinning their future hopes on the novel antiepileptic drug Levetiracetam. I used to work on the origins of epilepsy (gee, even got a paper published in Nature on it..toot my horn briefly), and one of my current students worked on Levetiracetam in a previous life. She was very high on the future prospects for the compound, but very negative about the way in which the company dealt with the academics who actually did the work for them. The great thing about the drug is that it seems to have minimal side effects compared with most other antiepileptic medications, yet is a potent therapeutic agent. So this seems (to this basic scientist) to be a great future money maker for the company. However, the statement in the Bloomberg article that "The drug is unique because it is designed to treat the origins of epilepsy, rather than its symptoms" is off base, since it's mechanism of action is largely unknown. And they won't make much further progress in this regard until they fire the idiots that handle their research programs. But it's still a great drug. Now I want to know when I can get back into SEPR! Boy, was I eventually burned on this baby! Faith kept me averaging down like a burning aircraft into the ground, until I eventually parachuted. The question is... where is the ground???!!!G My best guess is to wait out the CPI numbers and Alan Greenbacks and see what will happen with the rate hike. I hear the pharmas are expected to get burned by a rate hike, especially the high P/E ones(aren't they all) and SEPR seems to move with them. I'm on the sidelines licking my wounds for now, but want to leap back in soon. If I move too soon, my fiancee will short our marriage before the wedding takes it long!!!
