Clara, Calif. -- Intel Corporation today announced a new, bundled software program to make premium antivirus and Internet protection software available free with Intel boxed motherboards. The new program adds value to systems based on Intel motherboards delivered by Intel Product Dealers, OEMs, integrators, and resellers.
The Intel Motherboard Software program offers fully functional versions of software from Internet protection software leaders Symantec Corporation, NovaStor Corporation, PC Guardian, Inc. and Finjan Software, Inc., combining Intel's high performance, scalability, and reliability with the industry's highest-quality protection software. Systems integrators and OEMs who purchase unboxed Intel motherboards can also obtain the software upon request.
Program Delivers Essential Protection "As more businesses and individuals engage in commerce on the Internet, share confidential information by e-mail, and keep private and financial data on their systems, security of information and protection against loss or leaks becomes essential," said B.C. Ooi, vice president of Intel's Desktop Products Group and general manager, OEM Platform Solutions Division. "The Intel Motherboard Software program gives system integrators, dealers, and resellers the advantage of supplying protection software to their customers at no cost - software that end users would otherwise be well advised to purchase on their own."
The CD-ROM supplied with Intel boxed motherboards contains:
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus* v5.0, the world's most popular antivirus software, with automatic updates for continuing protection against infection from e-mail attachments, Internet downloads, disks, CDs, or networks.
NovaDisk* from NovaStor Corporation, for backup of data to any media - hard or removable disk, floppy disk, floptical or magneto-optical disk, and rewriteable CD.
Encryption Plus* Secure Export from PC Guardian, providing transparent 56-bit block encryption/decryption, password-activated decryption, keyboard locking to protect unattended systems, boot sector virus protection, and file restoration.
In addition, Finjan Software's SurfinShield* program, which protects systems from mobile code attack or misuse and provides ongoing security monitoring of desktop PCs, is available without charge specifically for Intel motherboard-based systems from Finjan's Web site at www.finjan.com/itl_sfs_update.cfm. Intel Motherboard Software Availability The Intel Motherboard Software CD-ROM containing the three premium antivirus and Internet protection software packages will be available by July with Intel SE440BX-2, SR440BX, and BI440ZX boxed motherboards.
