**OFF SUBJECT** Kenneth,
Trading outside the timezones, especially 13 hours at it is at present to New York, can be interesting. Due to the time, it can only be long trading, day trading doesn't have a chance, so I started of using my local Hong Kong bank, who were kind enough to charge US$50 for the inconvenience of handling my paper work, and also the US$50+ for the commission charged at the New York end.
As you may have guessed, I got a little bit annoyed with these charges, so decide to track down one of the Internet traders, and after a while decided to go with Datek, using limit orders primarily, and a commission of only US$9.99. :-)
As for the links in the Pacific Rim, I am still trying to find them. However, since all my interest is in the Tech Stocks, the US is the only real place to look. However, if you want to look in Hong Kong, you can find some general information on the web sites of the local Hong Kong papers, scmp.com and hkstandard.com. Sorry, but don't know how to embed a link.
As for the wonders of July, all I can say is that I hope I am still here to see it. My current contract expires at the end of June, but I am hoping for another extension, through 97 and into 98. The belief on the ground is that nothing will happen to Hong Kong for about 3 - 5 years, and even then it will be small. If China decide to play big brother, everyone will leave and China looses the goose that lays the golden egg.
This is a bit late for a Hong Kong posting, so will close down now.
Andrew
