NEWS RELEASE Symbols: AGM.V AROYF.OTC Bulletin Board June 14, 1999 In a decision released earlier today, Mr. Justice Davies of the Supreme Court of British Columbia held that the British Columbia Supreme Court does not have jurisdiction to hear the claims commenced by Ag Armeno Mines and Minerals Inc. (“Armeno”) against Newmont Gold Company of Denver, Colorado (“Newmont”). Armeno has instructed counsel to appeal today's decision of Davies J. The outcome of the appeal will determine whether Armeno claims against Newmont in British Columbia or Colorado for interfering in and inducing a breach of the May 28, 1998 agreement through which the Indonesian company PT Pukuafu Indah (“PI”) and its principal Jusuf Merukh (“Merukh”) granted an option to Armeno to purchase 90% of PI's interest in the Batu Hijau Mining Project on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. Armeno obtained orders for default judgment with damages and costs to be assessed against PI and Merukh in January, 1999. Armeno is proceeding immediately with the assessment of damages in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against Merukh and PI.
