Ron,
This policy of letting people slug it out without interferance has worked. Usually, it is when super power nations get involved that the death toll mounts faster than a Bill Clinton affair. We did not interfear in the Uganda/Rhuwanda/Bruwundi Civil War. There are over one million dead people now and Clinton does not even pay lip service to it. Would you prefer that the US have 10,000 "peacekeepers" stationed over there for the next 50 years to prevent any more killing?
Limited War gets limited results. Deal with it. If we had fought total war against North Korea as Macarthur had wanted, rather than the limited "police action" that Democratic Dodo Truman ordered, there would be a single, Democratic, peaceful Korea now, instead of the insane North-South continuous struggle that exsists there now with the peace being kept by 50,000 US troops.
