Oppenheimer Starts S3 Inc. At Market Perform Oppenheimer Sets '97 Net View At $1.32/Shr NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Oppenheimer & Co. analyst Leonard Brecken initiated coverage of S3 Inc. (SIII) with a market perform rating. He said his 1997 earnings estimate is $1.32 a share and his 1998 projection is $1.58. Brecken believes that visibility for 1997 is "pretty high." However, Brecken would like to see further evidence that the company will be able to deliver on its higher performance 3D chip, which is scheduled to come out in 1998.
