Chip Anderson: NYA-COMPX composite is calculated and your reasoning behind using it as a proxy for the entire market? No problem... First, to buy into my "overall market" indicator...you have to buy in that most stocks today (market cap) are included in the NYSE Composite and the NASDAQ Composite. If you can belly up to that, then you can use this indicator to your advantage. The formula I use is very simple. The two Indexes are combined on a equal weighting.
