IRAQ TELLS ITS PEOPLE TO PREPARE TO BATTLE AMERICAJune 15, 1999 Associated Press reported yesterday that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is urging his people to start training to fight the American "enemy." He was quoted as saying to his followers: "We have no other option but to train the men and to continue training. This is not only to prepare people for combat to defend their country, but also to give them impetus to face difficulties. We are nearing the day in which the enemy will announce by itself that it has no alternative but to leave the region." A local paper reported that President Hussein "predicted the Americans would be defeated in a confrontation with Iraq."
