Dr. Eric Schmidt --- the guy is good

He has been with Sun since 1983. He worked his way up in software.
He was instrumental in getting Sun into the Internet and JAVA off the ground.
He is two steps ahead of the pack when it comes to an Internet vision.

Check out the following two interviews:

search for "Eric Schmidt"
read the Communications Week Feb 24, 1997 interview
CRN March 18th, 1997 report

The good news is he was appointed BOTH CEO and Chairman of the Board.
The bad news is that John Young is vice chairman.

Schmidt has everything it takes to move Novell forward in terms of his technical background and experience.

Butas Joe and I and virtually everyone that has followed this company for a few years have been saying, the problem is with senior management, particularly in product positioning, and in marketing.

All of these guys have got to go. The company has no products or strategy coming from the top in the low end of the network market.

Schmidt has to move decisively to repopulate the BOD with people from the industry. He is going to need our support to do it.

I think our short term object should be (1) to try to get a meeting with him, (2) to produce a position paper that can be presented to him .
As to the paper the reasoning here is that we actually know more about this company than the institutions. If we put our heads together we can have an incredible influence on how the institutions approach the formation of the BOD.

Please take this very seriously my fellow investors.
