Ahhhh......Bell Atlantic...NYNEX...???? Illegal not!

The real reason is that the government, in light of the recent mergers and acquisitions of the former Bell companies, independent telcoms and other entities, would find approval of further mergers to come dangerously close to a re-assemblage of the original AT&T which in theory would de-emphasize competition.

Incidentally, T's acquisition of TCI, Mediaone and its tentative deal with Time Warner, if implemented and executed efficiently and timely will do exactly that and consequently has the entire Telecom industry in a complete quandary.

This is precisely why we all stared a 65 million share trading day and a 25% loss straight in the face.
