Indian Stock Markets: Grapeline

It is highly likely that BPCL will follow HPCL in announcing a bonus. Competition between these two PSUs is a well known fact. Will IOCL follow?

Indian Petrochemical Corporation Limited (IPCL) which is highest on the list of government's disinvestment list has been attracting interest from a number of MNCs besides Reliance Industries. It is learnt that the American chemical giant Dow Elanco is interested in the company and is willing to offer the government a price of Rs160 per share.

Strong rumors are doing round the market that Hindustan Levers Limited (HLL) will merge Vasihisthi Detergent with itself. Vashishthi Detergent was a subsidiary of Tomco, which HLL took over but was not merged then. However HLL has now decided to merge this small detergent making company.

The Pune based Finolex group is back in news. While Finolex Cables is expected to turn out fantastic results and has already announced a bonus, group company Finolex Industries too is likely to do well. Rumors doing round that Reliance Industries was interested in taking over the PVC manufacturer are not true. However Finolex Industries will turn out exceptional results on the back of increased PVC prices and the stock will touch new high. Its results are expected in the next few days.

In software, there seems to be a good story in Citicorp Securities. The company is aggressively pursuing an IT enabling strategy, which is expected to yield excellent returns in the medium term.
